Latest and Greatest At Home Nail Routine Yet

Wednesday, February 03, 2016

Usually my at home nail routine consists of taking off my old polish and slapping on a new colour.

One of my new years resolutions however was to start being more considerate of my nails and put in that extra bit of effort. So far, so good.

Here is my latest and greatest at home nail routine, yet!

Of course before any new manicure, you have to clean off the now icky manicure of the past. I'm over using strong acetone nail polish removers and I cannot be bothered with anything that requires cotton rounds. My favourite nail polish remover is definitely the Maybelline Express Remover. Acetone free and in a simple little tub, you honestly just dip your finger in and rotate the little tub and you're done! Nail polish free, ready to move on.

Now. onto the product that probably transforms this routine from an at home manicure, into something a bit more professional - the Scholl Velvet Smooth Electronic Nail Care System*. To be 100% honest with you, I don't usually give in to these at home magical machines that transform your nails into something else. But, this one looked different and I was super curious, so I gave in. It looks a little daunting, but this system is a breeze. You have three different nail care heads, each with their own little job. The first one files, second buffs and third shines. I'm not kidding when I say, that this is the only thing I have ever used which has completely gotten rid of those little nail tares on the edge of my thumbs.

Once I've finished with the magical Scholl Electronic Nail System, I give the tips of my nails a quick additional file just using an ordinary nail file board, just so I have the exact shape that I like. Then, I go in with the Scholl Velvet Smooth Nail Care Oil*. I've tried so many nail oils in the past, and this one definitely takes the cake. Most oils help make your nails feel smoother, but some of them don't last. With this one, you apply a thin coat, massage it in and the formula does actually work its way in. After you wash your hands, you can still feel that your nails are moisturised.

Last up, Sally Hansen Complete Care 7-In-1 Nail Treatment*. This product can be used as a base and top coat. It's also claimed to have 5 other uses including helping with growth, strength, ride filling, brightening and moisturising. Sometimes when products say that they have many uses, they're straight up bluffing and they chip or peel away, but not this guy! After the first time I used this product as a base coat, I didn't put anything on top. 4 days later, still no chips, my nails were shiny and felt strong. That honestly doesn't happen to me. Even with other Sally Hansen Base or Top coats, they usually flake away, so this must be magical! As a top coat, I definitely noticed that it also lengthens my manicures.

Have you tried any of these products before?
