Becca Cosmetics Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer Swatched and Reviewed
Sunday, September 25, 2016Today's post is super exciting because I get to share my thoughts on the new Becca Cosmetics Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer*.
Swatches from left to right: Porcelain | Fair | Light | Beige | Medium | Tan |
Warm Honey | Dark Golden | Deep Bronze
When Becca released their Aqua Luminous Perfecting Foundation which I reviewed here, I fell in love. Ever since, I've been crossing my fingers that they would expand the range, and they finally did!
Let's start off with the packaging because it is super cute. It looks like a shrinked down version of the foundation, even down to the details on the lid. The applicator is a sturdy 'custom dewdrop' which dispenses a really accurate, good layer of concealer.
This concealer comes in 9 shades and I think that's pretty solid. Let me tell you, Becca doesn't play around. When they released the foundation, people wanted a lighter shade, and they delivered. It wouldn't surprise me if this range kicks butt and people want different shades, Becca might just answer our prayers again.
Depending on the time of the year and my nature shades, I can use either Beige or Tan as a spot concealer, and Light for brightening under my eyes. I like to apply directly from the applicator to my face and blend the product in using my Beauty Blender or Real Techniques Complexion Sponge.
The formula has a cooling sensation about it and it feels very lightweight on the skin. I'd say that this concealer provides medium coverage. It's perfect underneath my eyes because it's blendable, very easy to work with and doesn't settle into any of my fine lines. In terms of covering spots, it covers light redness but if you have big breakouts etc, I think you might need to use something a little heavier.
The reason why the formula is so lightweight is because 32% of the formula is water based, hence 'Aqua' in the product name of this product.
'Luminous' is also included in the title and that might sound a little confusing because Luminosity usually brings features forward such as a highlighter, so when concealing you might be like 'wot, I'm bringing out my spots, no way girlfriend'. But, it doesn't really have that effect.
The way that I see the luminosity is it makes the skin look alive. It doesn't just look like 'bam, I've concealed something and it's flat, lifeless now under a thick layer of makeup'. It fixes up your problem area, without making it look too artifical.
Overall, I'm definetely impressed and I'd suggest picking the Aqua Luminous Perfecting Concealer up, ASAP. You can pick it up from Sephora USA here for $30USD. Once it's released in Australia, I'll be sure to update this post to let you know.
What's your current favourite concealer?
Will you be picking up this one?
