Benefit Cosmetics Oily Skin Killer Duo

Sunday, March 20, 2016

For those of you that know me, I am one oily skinned girl. I find it really difficult to find some products that actually work at preventing oil from occurring as well as hiding oil that does sneak its way through during the day.

I am so happy to share these two products today from Benefit Cosmetics. Their already popular Porefessional Agent Zero Shine Powder and their newly released Porefessional Matte Rescue.

Let's start off with the new kid on the block - Benefit Cosmetics Porefessional Matte Rescue*. Quick bit of background information, unfortunately the original Porefessional and I don't really get on that well. What this means is I was pretty hesitant of this product from the get go. Something about the original Porefessional's texture just slips and slides on my skin, sometimes making me even oilier.

The Porefessional Matte Rescue however, total different story. The formula is similar to a thin moisturiser, has a cooling effect and actually sinks in straight away. It doesn't leave my skin feeling slippery at all and makeup actually sits really nicely on top.

So how I use this product? After my face has been cleansed and moisturised, this is the next step. I then go in with a primer and carry on with the rest of my makeup routine.

Does it work to help prevent oil? I really do think so! The times I have used this product, I still get oily. I mean, nothing is a miracle worker and I do have extremely oily skin, but this definitely does help.

Next up, a product that I have already fallen in love with. Benefit Cosmetics Agent Zero Shine Powder* was one of my favourite products of last year. I had a little sample and used it up. Before this product and when it ran out, I honestly would carry a translucent powder and massive powder brush with me, everywhere. Even if I only had a small clutch, I'd somehow make it work. I'm definitely the one you might see in public giving my face a quick blot or run over with powder, so this product is honestly sent from the heavens. It now definitely saves me from embarrassment and extreme spillage from large powders on public transport.

I have seen some negative reviews of this online suggesting its cakey, but the only reason for that I think is maybe that those people weren't oily enough. Maybe if you have sorta oily skin, this might not be for you. But if you are an oily skin battler, needing something to carry with you during the day, this is definitely up your alley.

When I apply my makeup at the beginning of the day, I still prefer to use a translucent powder because there's more product in there and it doesn't have to be handy. During the day when I'm out, I will 100% reach for this.

It does have a slight colour to it but I found that once I applied it, you can't really see it and it does blend in. That might be because I'm quite olive and tanned, so if you're paler than me, maybe pop instore to see how it shows up on your skin.

As you can see from the photos, you unwind the top and that's your little product dispensing area. Unwind the bottom and a brush is revealed. The brush itself is pretty good and I find that it disperses the product well and not all in one bunched up spot.

All in all, I really love these products and cannot recommend them enough if you have oily skin.

What do you use to combat oiliness throughout the day?
