Essie Winter Collection 2016 Swatched and Reviewed

Wednesday, August 03, 2016

The Essie Winter Collection* for 2016 is of course, stunning. You'd all know by now how obsessed I am with Essie's nail polish formula formula and brush, so I couldn't keep this range to myself.

Before you read on, it's important to note that we are now in August and at the end of this month, it'll be very tricky to get your hands on this collection as it is limited edition.

Essie Winter Collection 2016 Nail Swatches, Essie Haute Tub Swatch

Essie Winter Collection 2016 Nail Swatches, Essie Haute Tub Swatch

Beginning with Haute Tub, it might appear to be a normal black polish, but it is definitely not. Look closely and you'll notice that it has cute purple sparkles. I will say that the sparkles turn up more in the bottle and during the first coat of nail polish. Afterwards, the black pigment becomes a little stronger so the purple sparkly isn't as noticeable. Still gorgeous though.

Essie Winter Collection 2016 Nail Swatches, Essie Shall We Chalet

Shall We Chalet is the ultimate wintery shade. It's a gorgeous deep red and even though I personally don't rock a red nail all that much anymore, this is something I comfortably wear frequently.

Essie Winter Collection 2016 Nail Swatches, Essie Altitude Attitude

Altitude Attitude for me was the easiest to apply. I mean, they all apply gorgeously, but this one especially! It's a gorgeous bright pink and is personally one of my favourites from the range because I find that during winter everything I wear seems to be grey, black or white. A pop of colour is what I need right now.

Essie Winter Collection 2016 Nail Swatches, Essie Apres-Chic

The biggest surprise of this range was Apres-chic. Shades like this always scare me because I think they're going to be rough and need around 100 coats to kind of show up. Nope. Believe it or not, I needed only ONE coat of this nail polish and it was as pigmented as you see in the swatch photo. I couldn't believe it - and it's almost reflective.

Essie Winter Collection 2016 Nail Swatches, Essie Virgin Snow

My absolute favourite colour from the range is Virgin Snow. It's a stunning pastel purple and it for some reason remidns me of one of my favourite grey polishes which is Essie's Chinchilly. Virgin Snow is so versatile and can suit pretty much everyone. I know this because when my friends and I received this collection at an event, the next week 99% of us had this on our nails.

Essie Winter Collection 2016 Nail Swatches, Essie Peak Show

Last up and the most delicate of the bunch is Peak Show. I love this polish because sometimes it looks white but it's actually pink. I feel like it's a gorgeous pearly white mixed with 10% pastel pink.

All of the polishes took two coats to be as opaque as the bottle except for Peak Show which required around three to four and Apres-chic only took one.

What's your favourite colour from the collection?
Have you picked any of these shades up?
